Green Bay Packers Fans Are Enjoying the Moment

Week 1: Packers 42, Saints 34 @LAMBEAU
Week 2: Packers 30, Panthers 23 @ Carolina
Week 3: Packers 27, Bears 17 @Chicago
Week 4: Packers 49, Broncos 23 @LAMBEAU

Aaron Rodgers’ Passer Rating
Week 1: 132.1
Week 2: 119.9
Week 3: 111.4
Week 4: 134.5

The Green Bay Packers still haven’t lost since Matt Flynn started at quarterback on December 19, 2010 and the Patriots just squeaked by with a 31-27 win.

After that game, the Packers have won 10 straight and so far this season they are averaging a league-leading 37 points per game.

A lot of people predicted this: that the Packers could become even better than they were last year. And two key weapons the Packers didn’t have during their Super Bowl run have made significant contributions early on this season.

First, there has been 64th overall pick out of the University of Kentucky, Randall Cobb. The rookie started the season off with a bang when he returned a kickoff 108 yards for a touchdown Week 1 against the Saints. Cobb has done well on offense as well and currently leads the team with 21.1 yards per reception.

Second, there has been Jermichael Finley. The much talked about, athletic tight end the Packers won the Super Bowl without has been as good as advertised with 18 receptions for 234 yards and three touchdowns.

Next on Green Bay’s schedule is a road game against the Atlanta Falcons. The last time the Packers played in Atlanta was last year in the divisional round of the playoffs. They blew out the Falcons by 27 and Aaron Rodgers completed 31 of 36 passes for 366 yards and three touchdowns.

But forget last year because Rodgers’ current hot streak is enough to make the Falcons worry a little. This past weekend against Denver he was 29 for 38 and threw for 408 yards and 4 touchdowns. And, through the first four games of the regular season, he has thrown 12 touchdown passes total, along with just two picks. Rodgers boasts a league-best passer rating of 124.6. Tom Brady is in second place at 111.3.

After the Packers and Falcons square off on Sunday Night Football, the Bears and Lions will go at it on Monday night. Who do Packers fans root for in that situation? Do we root for the Bears to hand the Lions their first loss of the season in hopes that the Pack will stand alone atop the NFC North? Or do we root for the Lions to crush the despicable Bears, knowing that Chicago may in fact be the truer contender down the stretch after the Lion’s luck runs out. I guess it all depends whether or not you take the 4-0 Lions seriously.

Opening Night Football Pick From The Guru

New Orleans (+5) at Green Bay

The Stadium will be electric tonight to start the 2011 NFL season. The Lombardi Trophy is coming back to Title Town. I can't wait ‘til kick off tonight. I hate all the extras thrown in to this game every year. Regardless, tonight's game is a great matchup of powerhouse football teams. The past year's Super Bowl winner has never lost a Thursday opener. They are 8-0 straight-up since they started this special season opener. I don't pick games straight up though. I think The Saints will be able to keep this game close throughout. You have 2 great offenses and 2 above average defenses playing tonight. So what's the X-factor? Drew Brees is money when he's an underdog (Thanks WC). Also, The Pack will be too focused on the pre-game festivities and the public has a slight lean on Green Bay in this game. The Dog has covered the last two years remember? Take The Points and The Saints here. (1 Unit) **unit change**
