NBA to Pick Scabs for Pickup Game

DATELINE: HUMOR! We wonder how many former NBA stars, aging off the court, are willing to come out of retirement to make a few Bucks, an assortment of Lakers, and a litany of Knickerbockers. Many NBA players retired before the big money hit the fan market. Now NBA czar and... Continue reading "NBA to Pick Scabs for Pickup Game" »

Mother of Mercy, Can This Be the End of the NBA?

DATELINE: HUMOR! No matter what outlandish publicity stunt Kim Kardashian tries, she finds herself upstaged by the New England Patriots at every turn. A Hope for a Nation in Disarray... Music

Journalism: An industry and a Craft By John Joyce

The path to professional journalism, for many, begins in the college newsroom. Dreams of one day obtaining a New York Times byline or a slot at a cable news outlet fly high, only to come crashing down falling short of their target like story ideas littering the floor around a... THE Game 6

(image via Ezra Shaw/Getty Images) Last night's game -- from here and forever to be referred to solely as THE Game 6 -- caused defibrillator industry stock prices to rise at the same exponential rate as my own blood pressure, let alone reminding the masses that YOU DON'T QUIT. YOU... Continue reading "THE Game 6" »

Napoli Is the Hero; Lifts Rangers to Game 5 Win, 3-2 World Series Lead

Tonight may very well have been the last time C.J. Wilson pitched in a Rangers uniform. Unfortunately, it did not end with a win or even a curtain call. It's a shame, really, because even though he's been bad in the postseason, his regular season efforts are a factor in... MTRMedia.com did a series of reports and observations from my 7 weeks this summer in our nation’s capital. Wasted Opportunities Cost Rangers in Game 1 of World Series

The Texas Rangers missed scoring chances early, and the St. Louis Cardinals got a pretty big break in the 9th. That pretty much sums up Game 1 of the World Series. C.J. Wilson said in pre-game comments that starting pitching was going to be the difference in this series. He... Continue reading "Wasted Opportunities Cost Rangers in Game 1 of World Series" »

2011 World Series -- The Selection

For this entire baseball season, I fully expected to be writing about the Philadelphia Phillies in the column called "2011 World Series -- the Selection." It's still hard to believe that the Phillies are not representing the National League in the Fall Classic. The Phils ran into a red hot... Continue reading "2011 World Series -- The Selection" »

Steve,Afghanistan and Pakistan...

In 1990s, as a young-man growing in Asia, I was awestruck with the United States for its democratic values and competitive spirit. Now it seems much of that seems to be over. After the Sept 9/11, US went into what I feel 18th century `isolationism', where in in order to safeguard its own security it launched war on terror. While the fact was Asia especially India , Pakistan, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka were in terror radar since 1980s. Similarly, US response to economic slump in 2008,was looking inward, it started clamping on outsourcing. Both of these were a shocker, for a person who in 1980s has seen World through the eyes of US Information center in Mumbai. While for a small nations looking inside works, US should remember, the empire builders never look inwards for the leadership hence England,France and Portugal could rule for 400 years or more in many parts of the world. US should approach the current crises in the US economy with opening its doors than closing. Because it should realize that its biggest challenge ``China'' is creation of MNCs from Europe and North America. Time to listen to history or it will be too late.An epitaph to American dream will be a sad day to world history. Continue reading "Steve,Afghanistan and Pakistan..." »
