Ravens to keep training camp in Owings Mills
I'll have my prediction for this week's game a little later, but I want to write about something that will have a bigger impact on the fans.
The Ravens announced Friday afternoon that they will hold their 2012 training camp at their Owings Mills, Md., facility. After the lockout, the Ravens decided to hold their training camp there this past summer. Apparently, they liked it.
It's better for the team because coaches can watch everything without switching fields. Here's the problem, though. Training camp at McDaniel College in Westminster was great for the fans and was a tradition dating back to the old Baltimore Colts.
I have a few memories of training camp when I went as a kid. It was so much fun. I remember all I wanted was for the players to hit each other, but at that time, Brian Billick was the coach and the camp didn't have much hitting.
This is a public relations hit for the Ravens, but they will probably look for other ways to reach out to their fans.
