Lewis to return vs. San Diego?
It's been odd not seeing inside linebacker Ray Lewis on the field the past three games. He's been out with a turf toe injury he suffered against the Seattle Seahawks. The Ravens' defense has played surprisingly well in his absence. However, Lewis always intended to return this season.
According to this report from the Sun's Mike Preston, Lewis is primed to return for Week 15 against the San Diego Chargers.
This move makes sense.
The Ravens played the struggling Cleveland Browns Sunday, but the weather wasn't conducive for injured players. Next Sunday, the Ravens will face the winless Indianapolis Colts. There would be no reason for Lewis to come back for that.
However, the Chargers have a high-flying offense and that's where Lewis would help the team the most.
Lewis, pending he's on the field in Week 15, will be able to diagnose plays quickly and the defense could have a great day against the Chargers.
So far, the team has played well, but the defense with the future Hall of Famer is better than if it didn't have him.
