Keselowski, Wolfe get extensions from Penske
Following a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season that produced three race wins, a berth in the Chase for the Sprint Cup and a fifth-place finish to the season for the driver/crew chief pairing of Brad Keselowski and Paul Wolfe, car owner Roger Penske worked out multiple-year contract extensions for both driver and crew chief. The length of contract and financial details have not been disclosed.
“Although Brad, Paul and the No. 2 team fell short of winning the Cup Series title this season, we know they will continue to be championship contenders for years to come,” Penske said.
Keselowski joined Penske Racing to drive a then-numbered 12 Sprint Cup Series car near the end of the 2009 race season. He drove the No. 12 Cup car full-time in 2010, while also racing a No. 22 Penske entry in the Nationwide Series to a championship in that series. Wolfe was Keselowski’s crew chief on the Nationwide circuit that season.
For 2011, Penske put Keselowski in the iconic No. 2 car and moved Wolfe to the Sprint Cup Series to work with Keselowski there. The result was a three win season and a fifth-place finish to the season in Keselowski’s second full-time year in the series and Wolfe’s first season at the Sprint Cup level.
“The winning combination of Brad Keselowski and Paul Wolfe has been terrific for Penske Racing, and we are excited to announce that they will continue to work together,” Penske said. “With one NASCAR championship and numerous wins in both the Nationwide Series and the Cup Series to their credit, this has proven to be a special pairing.”
