Gresham joins JDM for truck rookie campaign

Joe Denette Motorsports announced on Wednesday that 2011 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East champion Max Gresham will join the organization to drive a No. 24 truck in the Camping World Truck Series and compete for series Rookie of the Year honors in 2012.

“It’s an honor to team up with Joe Denette Motorsports for the 2012 season,” Gresham said.

Although Gresham will be competing in the Truck Series full-time for the first time next season, he does have a limited amount of experience in the series. He made three truck starts in 2011, coming at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Martsinville Speedway and in the season finale last month at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

He will join Ron Hornaday at JDM in 2012. Hornaday will also be new to the Joe Denette stable, moving to the organization from the now-dissolved Kevin Harvick Inc.

“As a rookie, it’s going to be a learning year for me,” Gresham said. “To have Ron Hornaday Jr. as a teammate and a mentor wil be a great opportunity for me. He is an experienced veteran in the series with four championships and more than 50 wins. He will be someone I can lean on for help and guidance to grow as a driver and build a foundation for a successful future.”

Gresham is an 18-year-old who won two races and posted nine top-fives and 11 top-10 finishes on his way to the championship in the K&N Pro Series East this past season.
