Truck schedule released
Earlier this week, NASCAR released the 2012 schedule for the Camping World Truck Series. While a couple races have been added -- one at Rockingham Speedway and a second date at Iowa Speedway -- the race docket is scaled back a little for next year. Instead of the traditional 25 races, the Truck Series will run only 22 races in 2012.
“The 2012 schedule has a great mix of tracks that will continue to deliver great racing for our fans,” NASCAR Senior Vice President of Racing Operations Steve O’Donnell said. “We’re excited to bring the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series to the famed Rockingham speedway, along with the addition of a second date at Iowa Speedway.”
The visit to Rockingham Speedway will be the first-ever for the Truck Series. It’ll be the first NASCAR national-level event at the North Carolina track since 2004.
Gone from the 2012 schedule are the two Nashville Superspeedway dates, as the Nashville track did not request NASCAR sanctioning for next year. Other tracks that were on the 2011 truck schedule that the series won’t finish in 2012 are Darlington Raceway, Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis and New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
“Looking ahead, interest in the Truck Series continues to grow in a number of different markets, and we’re excited about what the future holds for next season and beyond,” O’Donnell said.
