Miami (Ohio) vs Ohio: Tuesday Night Football Prediction
The 2011 regular season concludes for the Miami (Ohio) Redhawks and the Ohio Bobcats. For the Bobcats, there is still football to be played after tonight. They have the MAC conference championship and then a bowl game. As for the Redhawks, a disappointing season comes to an end, as the 4-7 squad will not be making a bowl appearance this year.
Miami could have salvaged this season by winning either of their last 2 games, which would have given them a shot at a 6 win season, and a chance at a bowl game. But they lost against Temple and Western Michigan, both times by a field goal, and now they are playing simply for pride.
There is a chance that the Redhawks could be down for tonight's game, and get blown out by the 8-3 Bobcats. The bettors feel that that is the case. Ohio opened as a 7 point favorite, and that line has been bet up to 9.
But I do not think that will happen. Miami is led by QB Zac Dysert, and I think that he will lead his team to a strong performance tonight. The Redhawks have lost their last 5 meetings in this series. A win tonight would snap that string, and end this season on a high note.
Ohio has already clinched the MAC East title. They know they are playing in the MAC championship. If either team is set up for a let down game, I believe it will be Ohio.
Tonight is Miami's bowl game. This is the last chance for the seniors to play football, most likely, ever. Even on the road, I expect they will come out and play extremely well.
I would not fault anyone who says Ohio is the better team, playing at home, and they are hitting on all cylinders, so they should roll the Miami squad, who is DOA. Ohio has won their last 4 games, and they are playing good football.
But I will take the opposite view. I look for Miami to show that they are better than their record suggests, and will play their rival Ohio with everything they have. They will cover the 9, and they do have a chance to win the game outright ...
