Harvick Win Gives Truck Title to Chevrolet
Kevin Harvick’s win in the WinStar World Casino 350K NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Texas Motor Speedway on Friday night sealed the deal on the 2011 Camping World Truck Series manufacturers’ championship. The win also gave KHI the series owner’s championship.
“To be able to win the owner’s championship, win the race and win the manufacturers’ championship in the same night is pretty cool, because Chevrolet has been a huge part of KHI since the beginning,” Karvick said. “To go out and score a bunch of points this year and win the owner’s championship and the manufacturers’ championship says a lot about everybody who’s involved and Chevrolet has been a huge part of providing the assets to make that happen.”
With its latest title, Chevrolet is a seven-time Truck Series manfuacturers’ champion, and this most recent one was clinched the day after Chevy celebrated its 100th anniversary.
“Chevrolet is very proud to win the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series manufacturers’ championship,” US Vice President of Performance Vehicles and Motorsports Jim Campbell said. “This is one of the many reason why we have been involved in racing all of these years.”
The Truck Series title is the second NASCAR national-level championship claimed by Chevrolet in 2011. A race win by Jimmie Johnson at Kansas Speedway on Oct. 9 clinched that series’ manufacturers’ title for Chevy.
The manufacturers’ championship was also decided in the Nationwide Series this weekend. A win by Carl Edwards Saturday at Texas clinched the Nationwide Series manufacturers’ title for Ford.
