Green Bay Has It Going On!
Hey there cheesheads of the world, how about your Green Bay Packers?
Aaron Rodgers and his Green Bay team has a fire under their butts that is keeping them going with absolutely no signs of stumbling in their future. Green Bay is playing like a team that wants to win and their fancy 27-15 defeat of the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving Day was a sure sign of that. The defending champion Packers are 11-0 for the first time in franchise history and have won a team-record 17 straight, including the playoffs. Rodger's was a big factor in the win and threw for 307 yards will 2 touchdowns and did not have a single interception. His leading receiver Julio Jones ran for 94 yards on just three carries and leading rusher Ryan Grant ran for 20 yards on 6 carries.
Perhaps the most eventful part of the game came in the third quarter thanks to Ndamukong Suh's ejection.
"We try to rise above things like that," Rodgers said. "We knew in a rivalry game, there are going to be a hard of hard hits, but we kept things between the whistles."
For the Detroit Lions and Matthew Stafford things were not 100% on par. The Lions have now lost a franchise-record eight consecutive Thanksgiving games. Not a whole lot to be smiling about after that stat gets spilled out.
Stafford threw for 276 yards, had only a single touchdown and a saddening 3 interceptions, one of which came from the Packers Clay Matthews when he angrily slammed down an intended pass.
The Detroit team started off the season rocking and was happily sitting at 5-0, but now they are teetering on the playoff bubble at 7-4. Can Stafford help his team avoid the mental and physical mistakes that have plagued them in the past few weeks and bring them back to their fiery beginning? One can only hope that the lions can come back out of their cage.
Green Bay easily surpassed the Lions which was seen as one of their biggest challenges in remaining undefeated. Their remaining battles are against Eli Manning and the New York Giants, the Oakland Raiders, the Kansas City Chiefs, the Chicago Bears and in week 17 they will face the Detroit Lions once again for a rematch. If anyone had to guess I think it may be safe to say that unless a giant epic disaster happens in the Green Bay roster, Aaron Rodger's may be able to safely satisfy the cheeseheads of the world and head into the post season undefeated. But for modest Rodger's he dares talk about anything past the current game. "We're a long way from there [being undefeated]," Rodgers said. "This is a big step toward our first goal, which is winning the division. If we are undefeated after 14 or 15 games, we'll talk about 16."
Good Luck to the Packers and only time will tell what Rodger's and the Green Bay Packers can show to the world of the National Football League.
