Strong Start Is Not Enough For The "W" For The Fins

MooreWell I am sorry to say that all the hopeful Dolphins fans will have to wait yet another week in hopes of a W for the Fins after a heartbreaking 20-17 loss today against Eli Manning and the Giants (5-2).

Matt Moore came out of the gate looking like a bran new quarterback, throwing and Reggie Bush was running all over the Giants Defense in the first half, but it was just sadly, not enough.

Giants head coach Tom Coughlin did remind his team prior to the start that despite the Dolphins being winless, they still could not take a back seat on pass rushing or on their defense. In the beginning it seems as though the Giants may have missed that message, but seemed to regain their strength in the second half and held the Dolphins (0-7) to only a third quarter 40 yard field goal by Dan Carpenter.

For Reggie Bush it was only his second career game ever with over a 100 yards rushing. At least he has that to be happy about.

Matt Moore, whom many have showed little to no faith in prior to the start of the game, did not even throw for a single touchdown, but did have a rushing touchdown that came on a 1-yard bootleg play, and had a total of only 138 yards passing. Seems maybe the lack of expectation was justified. What started out promising, ended dare i say, embarrassingly?

Giants Eli Manning has nothing to be ashamed of, despite the early mistakes. Manning ended the game with 349 yards passing, two touchdowns, and no interceptions. New Jersey native, Victor Cruz,
caught a 25-yard touchdown pass from Manning with 5:58 to play and the Giants were able to squeak by with a win and narrowly avoid a post-bye letdown. The Giants can stay happily atop the AFC East.

Dolphins head coach Tony Sparano was full of emotion in the first half, emotion that meant maybe he might win a game, but that emotion didnt last long, and now, yet again, he must face the question of when and how can he get his first win. Not to mention the fact that every week that goes by without a win, brings him even closer to the fate which so many are already assuming he is en route for, that of the unemployment line.

The Dolphins head to Kansas City next Sunday to face Matt Cassel and the Kansas City Chiefs who are currently third in the AFC East at 3-3.

Who knows, maybe next Sunday will be that special day for the Dolphins. One can only hope.
