Flyers Sweep Trifecta to Start Season Right

Aa -chris_prongerThe Flyers NHL season is only three games old so it is a little early to judge the team’s performance.  The Flyers with their win last night in their home opener have in the first three games beaten the defending Stanley Cup Champion Boston Bruins on their home ice, shut out their two decades long arch enemy the New Jersey Devils on their home ice and beat the defending Western Conference Champion Vancouver Canucks.

Not a bad start to a season with so many new faces.

Flyers new goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov has been solid in net all three games.  Even though he let up 4 goals against Vancouver he did not play badly.  They are just that good offensively with the Sedin brothers.  But the Flyers were even better as 5 different goal scorers lit up the red lamp.

The Flyers have won all three games with solid team effort.  Claude Giroux has led the way offensively for the Flyers which may not be a surprise but right behind him is new team Captain 37 year old Chris Pronger who looks fresh and in control on both ends of the ice.

June is a long way away but a nice trifecta of wins to start the season could be a sign of a nice trifecta of wins to end the season.  Bring on the Kings and King Nothing Mike Richards.

GO FLYERS!
