FIU Golden Panthers @ Arkansas St Red Wolves: Prediction
We have Tuesday night football this week. And though it's not exactly a clash of the titans when Florida International takes on Arkansas St, it's still great to have some action on this usually football-less night of the week.
And it is a game between two of the best teams in the Sun Belt Conference, with at least one player -- FIU's T.Y. Hilton -- who could eventually be playing on Sunday's, instead of Tuesday.
Both teams come in with a record of 4-2, but they have gotten to this point in very different ways.
FIU opened their season 3-0, including upset wins at Louisville, and against a tough Central Florida squad. They then inexplicably lost as a 16.5 point favorite against LA Lafayette, and followed that up with an L against lowly Duke. In their last game they handled Akron, but not convincingly, winning 27-17 and not covering the spread.
Meanwhile, Arkansas St was 1-2 out of the gate, but the 2 losses were both expected. They fell to Illinois & Virginia Tech, with both games on the road. They have since reeled off three nice wins, and come into Tuesday's game riding high.
Arkansas St has gone 5-1 ATS, FIU just 3-3. So far, the Golden Panthers have underachieved this season, the Red Wolves have played to their potential.
In this series, the home team has won the last four years. It's a game that rides on emotion, and that will be heightened on Tuesday by the fact that the game is nationally televised. Arkansas State is favored by 3 points, exactly what you would expect in this spot.
Its not a game to make a huge play on, but if you prefer watching a football game that you have action on, over say, the X Factor, the Red Wolves are worth taking a shot on. The home crowd will be fired up, the team has been playing well, and this is a chance for Arkansas St to show that they can play some ball....
