Dillon set to make Cup debut
NASCAR Camping World Truck Series points leader, Austin Dillon, plans to make his Sprint Cup Series debut on Sunday in the Hollywood Casino 400 at Kansas Speedway. He’ll be behind the wheel of a No. 98 Curb Agajanian entry with sponsorship backing from the Ronald Reagan Centennial Celebration, Camping World and Curb Records. The car will be prepared by Richard Childress Racing, owned by Dillon’s grandfather Richard Childress and the organization Dillon races for in the Truck Series.
“It’s an honor to make my NASCAR Sprint Cup Series debut with the support of the Ronald Reagan Centennial Celebration, Mike Curb and Camping World,” Dillon said. “I think this weekend will be an opportunity to get experience in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and to race at a totally different level while highlighting the accomplishments of one of our nation’s great leaders.”
Dillon is a Co-Chair of the National Youth Leadership Committee of the Ronald Reagan Centennial Celebration.
Dillon’s Truck Series crew, including crew chief Danny Stockman, will serve as his pit crew in the Sprint Cup race on Sunday.
Sunday’s Sprint Cup race at Kansas will not only be the series debut for Dillon, it’ll also mark the 100th Cup start for Mike Curb as a car owner. Curb’s most memorable win as a car owner came at Daytona in July 1984 when Richard Petty drove a Curb-owned car to his 200th win as a driver with then-President Reagan in attendance.
“We are proud to be in a partnership with Richard Childress and his very talented grandson, Austin Dillon, who will be making his Sprint Cup debut in Kansas,” Curb said.
