Dallas Cowboys vs. New England Patriots Preview & Prediction
The matchup between the Cowboys and Patriots is a who’s who of NFL stars. QBs Brady and Romo, coaches Belichick and Garrett, receivers Welker, Witten, Ocho Stinko, and Austin. Just to name a few.
The Patriots are off to another solid start at 4-1 even though their defense has been less than stellar. But it has not needed to be as 3-time Super Bowl Champ Tom Brady has been on fire throwing for almost 2000 yards in the first 5 games. The Cowboys defense will be hard pressed to slow Brady and company down. The good news is that the Cowboys’ defense is 1st in the league against the run so if they put the entire game on Brady’s shoulders they have a shot if they can get some big plays from their secondary.
The Cowboys will get most of their secondary back for this game as they will need to rotate guys in and out to keep fresh legs on the field. Brady will make them work hard all game long.
The big question is who will win the turnover battle. I have been telling friends that the over-under for Romo interceptions is 3. Romo however is coming off a much needed bye week and has had plenty of time to prepare for the game. His broken rib has needed every day to get better. It will not be an excuse for a bad interception this week.
Coach Garrett must put Romo into positions where he does not have to make a big play on every drive. He needs to know that going three and out is not a bad move sometimes. If the Cowboys get a lead at any point in this game they will have to show the world that they can control the ball, eat the clock and not put their defense in a non-defensible position.
I just don’t think the Cowboys can go an entire game without making that one big mistake.
