2011 World Series, Game 6 Prediction
Through five games, it's been an evenly matched, entertaining World Series. Texas now heads to St Louis, ahead 3-2, and needing just one win to capture their first World Series in the franchise's 50 year history.
Game 6 features a rematch of the starters from game 2, Jaime Garcia for the Cardinals, Colby Lewis for the Rangers. Texas won that game, after St Louis blew a 1-0 lead in the 9th inning.
So everything is on the line for the Cardinals on Wednesday night. Their late season heroics to even reach the post-season, their improbable wins against the Phillies and the Brewers, everything comes down to finding the magic that has carried them this far, digging deep and finding a way to keep it going, for 2 more games ...
But first they must win game 6. They need to forget about what could have been. They must erase the memory of the Game 2 collapse. Most importantly, they must forget about game 5, a game in which they stranded 10 runners. The Cardinals had multiple chances to blow the game open, but they could not convert.
The best player on the field, Albert Pujols, had a game for the history books in game 3, when he hit 3 home runs. But other than that game, he has been mostly kept quiet. He will need to play a big role, if the Cardinals are to come back and win this World Series.
I think he will, and I think the Cardinals can get it done.
Game 6 has the Cardinals as a slight favorite, -113. I am expecting St Louis to play inspired baseball at home, and capitalize on all the chances they squandered in Texas. There will be a game 7 in this years World Series.
The Pick:
***** Take St Louis in game 6 (-113) and get ready for a World Series game 7
