Member of No. 23 truck team suspended
NASCAR announced on Thursday that it has indefinitely suspended Michael McLaughlin, a licensed crew member on the No. 23 team in the Camping World Truck Series. The No. 23 truck is fielded by Joe Denette Motorsports for driver Jason White.
McLaughlin was suspended for violating NASCAR’s substance abuse policy. In the formal penalty announcement, sections 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing) and 19 (violation of the NASCAR substance abuse policy) of the 2011 rule book were cited.
Joe Denette Motorsports released an announcement stating, “Joe Denette Motorsports stringently adheres to a zero-tolerance policy concerning substance abuse. The licensee in question has been released and replaced moving forward for violating the sanctioning body’s substance abuse policy. Our company is behind the actions taken by NASCAR in regards to this matter and strongly supports the continued efforts to promote a safe work environment.”
