Cowboys & Romo Survive Redskins 18 - 16 GUE
When I was younger and out chasing women every night we had a saying, “Go Ugly Early or GUE.” If you wanted a sure touchdown there were some things you just had to give up. And sometimes you just got stuck in the GUE.
Last night the Cowboys were in the GUE. And it was ugly.
Penalties, miscues, fumbles, red zone follies, on the field finger pointing and lots & lots of Field Goals were the highlights of the nationally televised Monday Night Football game.
The fact that the Cowboys won the game is a better outcome then losing the game. Last season the Cowboys would have found a way to lose that game. Cowboys Coach Jason Garrett said he wanted to improve his team every day and every week. He still has a long way to go.
The good news is that the Cowboys will not repeat their 1-7 start of last year. This year they can have no worse than a 2-6 start to the season.
The good news is the Cowboys finally found a running game with RB Felix Jones rushing for 115 yards. The Cowboys will need more of this if they are to protect Romo and his ribs.
The other good news is the Cowboys bend but don’t break defense. At times it looked like the Cowboys defense had no answer to the Skin’s offense but they would find some way to stop them. They held the Skins to under 300 yards total offense which is the first time that they did that all season.
and EVEN MORE GOOD NEWS the NFC East is wide open as no one has shown that they are very good this year.
