The Phillies Are Unstoppable
The Philadelphia Phillies are the best team in baseball. It's not even arguable at this point. Coming into the season, everyone knew that their starting pitching rivaled some of the best rotations of all time. Roy Halladay, Cliff Lee and Cole Hammels have lived up to all the hype, and then some. Roy Oswalt has dealt with injuries & off field issues and has not been a big part of the team so far, but Vince Worley & Kyle Kendrick have picked up the slack.
The hitting has been somewhat dicey, but that is because they haven't been completely healthy yet this year. Star 2nd basemen Chase Utley missed the first half of the season, and Placido Palanco & Shane Victorino have missed significant time. As everyone gets into the starting lineup. consistency should return. Even with the team's offense being hit-or-miss, they are still 69-39 so far, an incredible 30 games over .500. They have the best record in baseball.
Manager Charlie Manuel has been saying for months that the team could use a big time right-handed bat. They finally have that with the recent acquisition of right fielder Hunter Pence. The Phillies have not lost since adding Pence to the lineup, winning 3 in a row and 4 overall. Included have been a couple come from behind thrillers. The team is starting to hit on all cylinders.
Philly is currently the favorite to win the World Series, and rightfully so. But you can still get them at a rock-bottom price of +250. This number will surely start to drop, quick. They have dominant pitching, an explosive offensive lineup, and the strong will to win another championship. Lock the Phils in now, this team will not be stopped.
Tuesday night, the Phillies play their second game of a three game set with the Colorado Rockies. The Phils won game one 4-3, as they parlayed late inning home runs from John Mayberry & Victorino into a comeback win. I expect the Phillies to continue their current hot streak, and take game two of the series. They send out Kendrick (3-3; ERA: 2.52) to take on Aaron Cook (2-5). Cook's ERA is over 5, and he is in for a tough assignment.
The Phillies are just a -120 favorite, and I will easily lay that number.
*** Take the Phillies -120
***Lock in Philly to win it all, @ +250
*** Buy shares in the stock --> SOHU @ $80. It sold off today after a good earnings report. Wall Street is strange sometimes, look for a big time rebound
