The Rockies tied the game up at one-all in their half of the first as, with a man on second, and with nobody out, Ryan Howard first committed a fielding error on a Dexter Fowler grounder, allowing Eric Young, who had earlier reached base on a bunt single, then stole second base, to reach third, before he would score as Howard committed a throwing error, as he threw the ball past Roy Halladay, who was trying to cover first base, allowing Fowler to be safe at first, before heading off to second base on Howard’s second error of the play. Two batters later, after Todd Helton had moved Fowler over to third base with a ground out, 4-3, the Rockies took the lead as Troy Tulowitzki hits a sacrifice fly, scoring Fowler. The Phils tied it up at two-all in the second as, with a man on second, and with two men out, Rollins hits an RBI single, scoring Carlos Ruiz, who had earlier singled, then moved up to second base on Halladay’s sacrifice bunt, 1-4, before he would move up to second base on the throw home. The Phils then retook the lead as Victorino hits an RBI single, knocking in Rollins, giving the Phils a 3-2 lead. Two batters later, after Utley had been hit by the pitch, sending Victorino to second base, the Phils took a 5-2 lead as Howard hits a two-run double, scoring both Victorino and Utley. The Rockies got a run back in their half of the second as, with one man on, and with one man out, Eliezer Alfonso hits an RBI single, scoring Ian Steward, who had earlier doubled, making it a 5-3 Phils’ lead. The Rox then made it a 5-4 Phils’ lead in the third as, with one man on, and with nobody out, Helton hits an RBI single, knocking in Fowler, who had earlier walked, then stole second base. The Phils got the run back in the fourth as, with the bases loaded, via a Halladay single, who then moved up to second base on Rollins’ ground out, 4-3, an Utley single, with Halladay stopping at third base, and a walk to Howard, which sent Utley up to second base, and with two men out, Halladay scored on a Jason Hammel’s wild pitch, just getting his foot under Hammel’s tag, giving the Phils a 6-4 lead, while Utley would stop at third base, and Howard would stop at second. The Rox then made it a 6-5 Phils’ lead in the fifith as, with a runner on third, and with one man out, Helton hits an RBI ground out, 4-3, scoring Fowler, who had just tripled. The Phils then added to their lead in the sixth as, with one man on, and with two men out, Howard hits a two-run home run, his twenty-fourth home run of the year, and his third home run in two days, knocking in Utley, who had just singled, giving the Phils an 8-5 lead. The Rockies got a run back in the eighth as, with one man out, Helton hits a solo home run, his twelfth home run of the season. That would end up being the final score as Brad Lidge pitched a 1-2-3 ninth, recording his first save of the season.

Roy Halladay (14-4, 2.55) got the win as he went seven innings, giving up five run, four of which were earned, on eight hits and a walk, while striking out seven. Antonio Bastardo received his ninth hold of the year as he pitched an inning, giving up a run on two hits, while striking out two. Brad Lidge collected his first save of the year by pitching a 1-2-3 ninth, striking out a batter. Jason Hammel (6-11, 4.88) took the lost as he went five innings, giving up six runs on eight hits, a hit batter, a wild pitch and four walks, while striking out four. Rex Brothers pitched an inning, giving up two runs on three hits, while he struck out two. Matt Belisle pitched three scoreless innings, giving up a hit, while striking out three.

The Phils had twelve hits in the ballgame, with all of the starters having at least one hit. Chase Utley (Singles), Ryan Howard (Double, Home Run, 4 RBIs) and Wilson Valdez (Single, Triple), all led the team with two hits each.
