Phillies Rollins Leaves Game with Groin Strain
Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins left today’s game against the Washington Nationals with what is being called a groin strain.
The team has already said Rollins will be day-to-day, but the Phillies are not exactly known to be forthright when it comes to talk of injuries. Jimmy Rollins is in the final year of his contract with the Phillies, and has had a relatively productive year. Rollins entered today’s game batting .269 with 14 HRs and 58 RBI.
Rollins began to limp after making a good defensive play in the 2nd inning, and was replaced by Wilson Valdez.
Jimmy Rollins had a disappointing season last year after missing 88 games because of two right calf strains. Rollins missed a handful of games this season when he fouled a ball off of his knee.
More details as they become available.
