Alex Rodriguez's Return
After over a month and a half, Arod returned to the majors Sunday to help the Yankees beat the Twins 3-0. Although his knee "felt good", Arod went 0 for 5. "His timing looked a little off," said the Yankees manager, Joe Girardi.
Arod's return was long awaited, but his absence surely didn't hold the Bombers back. Without Arod, the Yankees went 25 and 13, batteling at the top of the AL East. Both the Yankees and their fans hope that Arod's return will only help them to fight harder, and remain on top.
Arod played third base, rather than being DH in Sunday's game. Girardi hoped that Monday's rest would help him recoop for Tuesday's game. Although we hope to see Arod improve from that 0-5, once he gets a hit, he will have to run, and his knee is the main focus. When Arod returned last Tuesday, he was seen running bases and jogging. Girardi expects to swap Arod between DH and third base over the next week or so. Only time will tell if Arod was permanently damaged by this surgery, but I have no doubt that he will return to his old ways. If Arod can remain healthy, he will play a crucial roll in the Yankees' post season.
