Yeley heads to Front Row

Front Row Motorsports announced on Monday that J.J. Yeley has joined the organization as a substitute driver for Travis Kvapil behind the wheel of the No. 38 Sprint Cup Series entry. Kvapil is the primary dirver of the car, but will miss races here and there when NASCAR’s Camping World Truck Series races at tracks other than where the Sprint Cup Series is racing on the same weekends. Kvapil is racing for a championship in the Truck Series.

“J.J. is a great addition to our team,” FRM owner Bob Jenkins said. “He brings a lot of good experience, and it showed right away in his first weekend in one of our cars.”

He finished 23rd in his first race with FRM, Sunday’s Lenox Industrial Tools 301 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

Yeley has been racing at least part-time in the Sprint Cup Series in 2004. He first ran full-time in the series in 2006 for Joe Gibbs Racing. To this point, he has two full-time Cup seasons under his belt -- 2006 and 2007. In his Sprint Cup Series career, Yeley has finished races in the top-five twice and posted seven top-10 finishes, the last coming in 2008.

“We’re still a relatively young team and trying to grow each year,” Jenkins said. “And I think bringing J.J. aboard is a good step in that progress.

When Kvapil is in the No. 38 Sprint Cup Series car, Yeley will drive the No. 55, so he’ll have a seat for all the remaining races in 2011. He’ll be in the No. 55 in the next Sprint Cup race -- the Brickyard 400 on July 31 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Previously Yeley drove an entry for Whitney Motorsports.
