REPORT: Vince Young to Philadelphia Eagles
CBS Sports' Clark Judge is reporting that Vince Young, former Tennessee Titans maligned Quarterback is on his way to Philadelphia to become an Eagle and backup Michael Vick. Judge said that Vince Young seemed headed for the Eagles, and that the situation would be "perfect" for everyone involved.
While there are some people who may question this decision, there is no disputing what Andy Reid has been able to accomplish with QBs. He's been instrumental to Brett Favre, Donovan McNabb and Michael Vick, and there isn't much doubt that he could do the same for Young. Vince Young certainly brings a lot to the table. He has experience and plenty of talent, but has struggled to keep it all together at times. A disappearance in 2008, a contemplated retirment after 1 year in the NFL and his latest newsmaker, throwing his pads into the crowd and having a blowout with then-coach Jeff Fisher, have tainted VY's career. Vince Young could certainly use a fresh start and Philadelphia seems to be the land of fresh starts recently. Profootballtalk.com said that the deal is a "virtual certainty."
Bear in mind that this is all speculation at this point, and there is nothing definitive saying that the two-time Pro Bowler has signed with the Eagles, however, reports have been flying for days that Vince Young would be a fit in Philly and that VY wanted to come to Philly. Though his release from the Titans was LONG anticipated, it finally came to fruition today.
The Philadelphia Eagles need a backup quarterback after they dealt Kevin Kolb to the Arizona Cardinals earlier today. The Eagles were linked to Brett Favre over the weekend and earlier this week, but there doesn't seem to be any truth to those rumors.
