The Golden Rule
Matthew 7:12 Do to others whatever you would have them do to you, is commonly referred to as the "Golden Rule". I Believe most people try to live their lives according to this rule.
However, in the fast paced and stressful life style most of us have become accustom to, we easily and quickly loss sight of this rule.
If we stop each evening and think about how we have treated other, I am sure most nights we will realize we could have been a bit more considerate to someone.
Karla Manternach, Archdiocese of Milwaukee, offers a very simple and short prayer to help. She writes in her "The Golden Rule" article in Living Faith, that she confesses to be the world's most inconsiderate driver.
After a great deal of thought, she now takes a deep breath when she gets behind the wheel and says this prayer.
"Lord, where I go today, help me to treat others the way I would like to be treated."
I attempt to say this prayer each morning, but I insert "whatever I do", for "where I go".
Try it and let me know if it helps you.
PEACE BE WITH YOU
