NBA News: Dallas and Heat draw Even
Was this one of those cases where you took your opponent lightly. Maybe it was one of those deals that your foe is so psychologically beaten there is no chance that they would recover. Beaten and demoralized you let them know we are better then you. Our second meeting would be no different then the first, your going to lose.......Lebron James, Dwayne Wade and the rest of the Miami Heat were probably thinking that with about seven minutes to go, up by 15 in the final period of game 2 of the 2011 NBA Finals against the Dallas Mavericks. Maybe it was karma, irony, or just maybe that the Mavs had enough of the Heats antics. It was clear that the Mavs took exception after Wades 3-pointer that gave the Heat a 88-73 lead with approximately 7:15 remaining. It wasn't so much making the three that upset the Mavs it was the pose Wade struck after he canned it, holding his shooting hand in the air in a flaunting like fashion with a smug look on his face. It got worse when James came over and started thumping on Wades chest and started some premature celebration. You can see an incest Jason Terry barking at them as they were walking back to the Miami bench. Look Wade and James spent the last three quarters making the Mavs look like chumps. Desperate not to go down 0-2 in the series, the Mavericks seemingly didn't have the strength and the energy to keep up with them........That changed when Wade who finished with 36-points showed them up with the 3-point shot and Lebron who had 20 hyped it up. Spurred by these acts of sacrilege, the Mavs went on a 22-5 run with Jason Terry scoring the first six points. Dirk Nowitzki scored the final nine points in that surge, including the game winning lay-up with his injured left hand against Miami's Chris Bosh giving Dallas a 95-93 victory. The Heat were held to one field-goal in that spurt and couldn't hit a shot to save their life or at least the game. After Dirk's lay-up with no timeouts left for the Heat, Wade was the one who attempted a desperation three that bounced off the back rim.......No styling and profiling this time right........
Look everyone could make a big deal about the Heats antics and arrogance but what is evident is that the Heat and the Mavs have a tendency to sleepwalk through games. This was apparent in both conference finals series......In each of the games against the Chicago Bulls with the exception of game one, they didn't straight up dominate the games, they just turned it on late in the 4th quarter to win it. Same instance with Dallas versus the Oklahoma City Thunder. It makes for an interesting final where no lead is safe but can either team afford playing with fire like that........Lebron claims their defense didn't hold up but your team wasn't making any shots either......Same excuse the Mavs had in their game 1 loss, no execution down the stretch. This is something both teams have to ponder because neither the Heat or the Mavs can ill-afford having one of those meltdowns in the 4th quarter, much less think every rally is going to turn out with a win. Game 3 Sunday night in Dallas.....nuff said
