NFL News: Smith Confident Rehab Is Working

NY Giants star wide receiver Steve Smith recently told ESPN that he is very confident his rehabilitation from season ending knee surgery is on track. Smith is running in a pool and doing several strengthening excercises. He feels certain he will be there whenever the season starts.

Smith-12-giants-catch1 Smith also has issues regarding his contract status as there is a chance he will be a restricted free agent depending on what agreement comes out of the current NFL labor dispute. With the Giants being very deep at wide receiver and Smith coming off knee surgery there is the possibility that he has played his final game for Big Blue but he doesn't think so;

“It is a little bit of uncertainty but I am confident, the Giants want me there and I want to be there,” Smith said via ESPNNewYork.com.

I tend to agree with Smith. The Giants are a very loyal club and Smith is an invaluable contributor. My guess is that Jerry Reese will find a way to get a deal done.
