NBA News: Overtime Thrillers
I highly doubt you were up until about 1:30am this morning watching the 3rd overtime of game 4 between the Memphis Grizzlies and the Oklahoma City Thunder. Then again you could of had the tube on and the game was more watching you then you of it because you may have nodded off. Either way as an NBA fan you got a treat last night. The first game involved game 4 of the Eastern Conference semi-final between the Miami Heat and the Boston Celtics. Going in the Heat were up 2-1 in the series and trying to stave off the confidence boost the Celtics got at home in game 3. Yeah the Heat wouldn't want a repeat performance from their star forward Chris Bosh who was an emotional wreck because he was bothered by the ruckus Boston crowd in that last game. Is Bosh a little girl or what? I know women who have more back bone then this fool. Really how long have you been playing this game and you got emotional......What are you on your period or something?
I apologize to the female populace for that snide remark but you have to be kidding me.......Bosh was able to pull it together by scoring 20-points and hauling down 12 rebounds. Bosh's partners in crime had strong games as well, Dwayne Wade finished with 28 points and 9 rebounds, while Lebron James poured in 35-points, 14 rebounds, and 3 assists. That combined 83-point output plus whatever scraps they got from any of the other clowns on their roster helped down the Celtics 98-90 in overtime. Celtic forward Paul Pierce made an attempt to win it in regulation with the game tied but his potential game winner rimmed out as time expired. You can see that Pierce was trying to draw a foul on the attempted shot as he leaned into Lebron James and then pulled back with the fallaway jumper. The Celtics pretty much ran out of gas at that point, only mustering four points in overtime.
“We just had poor execution down the stretch,” Pierce said. “It just carried into overtime, it seemed like. We feel like tonight we beat ourselves.”
Is he right? That seemed like the ongoing theme from most of the Celtics that they could of played better. Its disturbing that Bosh, James, and Wade combined for 83 points and no other Heat player scored more then four.....Lucky for them that Bosh didn't pee his shorts like he did in game 3 or we would of been singing a different tune right now.
As for the other game that was on the NBA's playoff docket between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Memphis Grizzlies, both teams took the meaning of extended period to a totally different level. I'll tell you after three overtimes, players over-extending themselves, and just plain gutsy play, both teams know full well this is going to be a seven game war.......The Thunder was able to knot the series at 2-2 and let the Grizzlies know they are not going to be easily taken. I could just read it on Grizzlies head coach Lionel Hollins face at the end of the triple overtime, we had them.........
Hey if Boston can steal one back in Miami in game 5, then tie it up back at home in game six, its a series.......As for the Thunder and the Grizzlies they are going to kill one another for a spot in the Western Conference final. They better hope when its all said and done they have enough to contend with the Dallas Mavericks who are resting and waiting.......nuff said
