MTR NHL News: FLYERS - RANGERS 2012 Winter Classic in Philadelphia
The Philadelphia Flyers and New York Rangers will play in the 2012 Winter Classic on January 2nd 2012 at Citizens Bank Park.
The Flyers wanted to host the game at Lincoln Financial Field, but were unable to because the Philadelphia Eagles are slated to host the Washington Redskins there on New Year's Day, assuming there's no NFL lockout.
The NHL did not want to go head to head with the NFL so it moved the game to the 2nd.
This will be the NHL's fifth Winter Classic and the third played at a major league baseball stadium. This is the Flyers 2nd Winter Classic, the Flyers lost to the Boston Bruins at Fenway Park in 2010.
