BBQ Tip: Preventing A Rusted Out Grill
Expanding on the previous tip...
Clean out all the ashes, hose the grill down really well and spray it with a mixture of 2 tbl of vinegar per gallon of water. Let it dry well. Turn it upside down if you have to and are able to - try to keep the moisture out. If you use your grill or smoker 2-3 times per week, you won't have a problem.
BBQ Recipe: Jalapeno Corn Bread
Corn bread and BBQ go together like peanut butter and jelly. Jalapeno gives this cornbread recipe a lil’ bite. The recipe yields 9 servings.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups cornmeal
- 1/2 cup flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 6 tbl sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 3 jalapeno peppers, seeded & finely chopped
Preparation
- In a bowl, combine the first six ingredients.
- In another bowl, whisk the eggs, buttermilk & oil.
- Add ingredients of both bowls and stir until moistened. Stir in jalapenos and pour into a greased square baking pan.
- Bake at 400 degrees for 20-22 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.
