MLB News: Ian Stewart is Back with Rockies
In one of the stranger moves in recent MLB history, Ian Stewart was optioned to Triple A by the Colorado Rockies on April 19th. With a short of a sample as he had in the majors, he was recalled.
After being the Rockies starting third baseman since 2008 and playing in nearly 400 games, Stewart was optioned after just 26 at bats. In only 11 games at Triple A he hit .361 with 3 homeruns and found his way back to the Rockies.
The entire episode is bizarre at best and one can only assume that Stewart will be given more than 26 at bats this time to prove he can be the team's starting third baseman.
