Busch, Harvick penalized
NASCAR announced on Tuesday that Sprint Cup Series drivers Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick are on NASCAR probation for the next four series events, beginning with Sunday’s FedEx 400 at Dover International Speedway, as a result of actions at Darlington Raceway last Saturday.
“These penalties are a result of what occurred on pit road after the race was over,” NASCAR Director of Communications Kerry Tharp said. “They are about maintaining a safe environment on pit road.” Busch and Harvick made contact late in Saturday’s Showtime Southern 500. Busch accused Harvick of “unacceptable racing” and retaliated by intentionally spinning Harvick. After the race, when both drivers drove off the track an onto pit road, Harvick got out of his car and walked over to Busch’s car. When he stuck his arm into Busch’s car, Busch drove away. Busch finished the race in 11th, and Harvick finished 17th.
