Sabres beat Flyers 1-0, even series at 2-2

The Buffalo Sabres played a tight physical game tonight beating the Philadelphia Flyers 1-0 at HSBC arena to tie the series at tow games each.

Buffalo had plenty of great hits, blocked shots and takeaways, but the goalies for both sides stole the show tonight.

After some criticism for his play in the Sabres' two losses, Ryan Miller was on the ball again tonight, much like in game one. He stopped all 32 Flyers shots and none was bigger than his glove save on Danny Briere who got a pass right in front of the net and hesitated a moment to try and get Miller to move.

Brian Boucher also played very well in net for Philadelphia. He made a big save on Tyler Ennis late in the third period and did a good job stopping multiple shots on a couple Sabres power plays.

Jason Pominville scored the game's only goal on a pass from Rob Niedermayer. It was a tight game, but the Sabres could have easily gone up by more than one.

As a fan I hate to see the puck hit the post; it happened twice tonight. One time Tyler Myers had Boucher beat on a great wrist shot, but it hit the post and nobody could get to the rebound. Another time Brad Boyes had a chance from point blank and hit the post.

Another thing that bothered me was Buffalo's inability to score on odd man rushes. Two stood out to me: Mike Grier and Cody McCormick had a two on one in the first period and they skated into the zone way to slow and then the pass to McCormick wasn't any good. In the third period Patrick Kaleta joined Thomas Vanek for a two on one, but skated to the net too hard and ended up falling into the net before Vanek could pass or shoot.

This is still any body's series, especially if the goalies continue to dictate the flow of the game.

Game five is Friday night back in Philadelphia.
