NBA Prediction: Oklahoma City Thunder and Boston Celtics in NBA Finals?
Ridiculous? Unlikely? Weird?
If the Oklahoma City Thunder make it deep into the playoffs, then the weak West has been put into a shock of the greatest magnitude: the Lakers have fallen on hard times and have suffered premature elimination.
If the Thunder are on a roll across the plains of America, and the Boston Celtics have fended off the magical heat wave from the South. The Celtics may end up gored seriously by the Bulls, staggering into the Finals.
The upshot would feature the debilitated Boston Celtics at the path of the thunderous Thunder, awaiting a lightning strike at the crossroads.
Dorothy, the Celtics are not in Kansas. It’s Oklahoma where the corn is as high as an elephant’s eye.
The four traded and betrayed players might have to play their hearts out, against their former teammates, especially Nenad Krstic, Jeff Green, and Kendrick Perkins.
That’s never a good scenario for victory, though it would make for dramatic sporting games. The individuals would supersede the teams.
The ultimate experience for fans and players will be to see Rajon Rondo and Kendrick Perkins, after five bonding seasons together in Boston, on opposite sides of the court.
Their teary reunion may not be on national television, but in a quiet dinner the night before where the lovebirds join hands one last time.
One presumes Rajon will run circles around his scowling friend who may swat him to show who’s the boss.
How will that strong professional athlete’s sense of competition play out for these two men? They were the Eng and Chang of Celtic lore, Siamese Twins connected at the hip until death.
The case of Perk and Rondo may join the great tales of sports myth.
Now they will become Thunder and Lightning, Salt and Pepper, Dog and Cat. The results may astound those looking to resolve the great rivalries in human history.
If memory serves me correctly, the Woolly Mammoth is now a stuffed specimen at a St. Petersburg museum in Russia. The visitors to gawk at the loser are called Homo sapiens.
If I recall the ending of King Kong, “T’was Beauty who killed the Beast,” according to Mr. Carl Denham. In these matters, I always defer to man who brought us the Eighth Wonder of the World.
Wonders may never cease as Predator goes against Alien. I am rooting for OKC Thunder and Boston Celtics to go to the NBA Finals.
