iPhone 5 to begin production in July
The first concrete details have emerged on the iPhone 5. Originally not thought to be released this year, several rumors have surfaced over the past few weeks pointing towards a September release of the iPhone 5, which the latest rumors also support.
The iPhone 5 has been a hot topic with technology enthusiasts, and they have been anticipating another iPhone 5, despite rumors it may not happen. Now it seems that the iPhone believers may actually be right.
The iPhone 5 will begin production this July with the intention to ship in September, according to three people in the Apple supply chain who spoke with Reuters. The sources also said the device will have a faster processor, which will most likely be the A5 chip, the dual-core processor inside the iPad 2.
There is also a distinct possibility that the iPhone 5 gains a slide-out keyboard, but it is too early to be sure, as compared to the processor and supply evidence. It is a bit worrisome there are no leaks of the iPhone 5 yet outside of a YouTube video and a picture of a faceplate. Still, Apple usually needs little time after formally announcing a new device, so expect the announcement in August with a September release date, just in time for the holiday rush.
