Which to chose? Protestant or Catholic?

Hi there brothers and sisters in Christ,  First I wanted to say I am not a really big fan of the changes cause I would rather have my own blog but it does make it easier.  Secondly, I have been trying to find my denomination in the Christian church or maybe I am Catholic.  I have came to the conclusion that you or me shouldn't be Protestant or Catholic cause Jesus and his followers back then didn't want us to be either.  We are all followers of Christ.  We are all children of God.  If you don't believe me here is a passage from the book of John in the Bible.  It is a quote that I think if we all understood it we might not have the divisions that Protestants and Catholics have and we might find peace at last.  Here it is:

John 17:20-23 - "I do not pray for these only, but also for those who believe in me through their word, that they may all be one; even as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.  The glory which thou hast given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one."

your right pat He was neither....the catholic religion has twisted and turned so much around to hide stuff...i don't want to go to deep cuz we all have our own beliefs and a right to believe what we want to...
so this is what i believe... I believe Jesus is the Son of God....as we all are children of God..I believe Jesus was a messenger (psychic, spiritual healer, messanger for God) I believe that Jesus was a Gnostic Christian. I also find the Gnostic religion very interesting....but i know what you mean...trying to find the "right" religion. The most important thing is that you believe in God and live a positive life and love Him & His children including yourself!! I could go WAAAAAAAAAAY deeper into the whole religion conversation but that sums it up i suppose!!

Catholic or Protestant? I don’t see much of a difference. I was raised a Baptist, very strict, no fanfare religious Bible reading which was cool until they told my mother she didn’t contribute enough money to the church she had been contributing to for 25 years and whose mother was a paid, full time employee of the same church.
My wife is Catholic and she is raising my boys to be Catholic. Other than the priest thing and some extra special affects it’s basically the same because we are all Christians. Go where you feel comfortable and where you feel you can learn something each week.
Remember that this country was built mostly on Christian-Judeo values and it’s the values that matter not necessarily the label. Look at how some of the other religions conduct themselves and you will understand you’re in the right spot.

Not sure what you mean about the changes but I would have not have read your column if it were not for this format.

Thanks for the comments Riki and RJP. I agree with both of you and love hearing your thoughts, keep them coming and I will keep the blogs coming. RJP I meant the changes that its all into one blog we don't have seperate blogs anymore, like I used to have my Jesus Christ blog but now its just on the MTR site. Thanks and please keep reading both of you.

You still have your own column. If you go here it is just your posts: http://www.mtrmedia.com/mtr/writer-patrick-waldron or you can go to this site for lifestyles http://www.mtrmedia.com/mtr/lifestyles/ or this site for just spirituality http://www.mtrmedia.com/mtr/lifestyles-spirituality/

As the commenter pointed out, many more people will see your posts now with the new format. We hope you get used to it and end up liking it better.

I responded in the wrong place. We have conversation threads now which make conversations even easier!
