Maple Leafs vs. Canadiens pre-game notes

My game previews have been called "Maple Leafs vs. _____ pre-game notes" for quite a while now and I think it's time the title represents exactly what the article is, so I'm going to try a new style of pre-game notes. From now on (unless I decide otherwise) my game previews are going to be almost entirely in point form, that way you get all the information you want/need to know and not a whole bunch of minor things you don't really care about mixed in with all the important facts.

I would like to get some feedback on this. You can email feedback to or tweet it to @LukasHardonk on Twitter.

Here it goes.

  • Toronto is 5-4-1 in its last 10 games and 4-1-1 since the All-Star break, while Montreal is 4-3-3 in its last 10 games and has lost three straight.
  • Jean-Sebastien Giguere will start in net for the Maple Leafs tonight. He has a record of 11-9-3, a goals against average of 2.87 and a save percentage of .896 in 26 games this season.
  • Carey Price is expected to start for the Canadiens. He has a record of 26-18-5, a GAA of 2.43 and a save percentage of .918 in 49 games this season.
  • Toronto is coming off of a 2-1 OT loss to New Jersey, with Ilya Kovalchuk scoring the winning goal. Montreal fell 4-3 in their last game to the New York Islanders, in a shootout.
  • Montreal's Tomas Plekanec has one point in four of his last five games, including three goals.
  • Mikhail Grabovski has three points in his last three games for the Leafs and with 22 goals and a plus-7 rating, has been one of the Maple Leafs' best offensive producers this season.
  • Colby Armstrong will not play tonight due to blurred vision. Reports suggest he had a blurry spot in one eye during Thursday's game against New Jersey.
  • Colton Orr (concussion) and Mike Brown (upper body) will both miss tonight's game as well.
  • Mathieu Darche (lower body), Mike Cammalleri (shoulder) and  former Maple Leafs defenceman Hal Gill (upper body) will miss tonight's game for Montreal.
  • Phil Kessel's goalless streak now stands at 13 games. He has just five assists over that span.

Tonight's Leafs lineup:

First line: Kulemin - Grabovski - Kessel

Second line: MacArthur - Bozak - Lupul

Third line: Sjostrom - Boyce - Versteeg

Fourth line: Rosehill - Brent - Crabb

First defence pair: Aulie - Phaneuf

Second defence pair: Kaberle - Schenn

Third defence pair: Lebda - Komisarek

Goalies: 1. Giguere 2. Reimer
