Receivers Coach Ray Sherman Will Not Return To Dallas In 2011; Three Other Assistants Are Up In The Air

In case some of you have not heard about Ray Sherman leaving Dallas, here are the facts:

Ray Sherman has been with Dallas since 2007. In four years with Dallas, they have had two receivers named to the Pro Bowl. Dallas had weaknesses this past season, but receivers were not one of them. So, it is odd to see Ray Sherman leave Dallas. In fact, I don’t even know why.

All I know is that according to a variety of reports spanning from ESPN to ProFootballTalk to even the Star-Telegram states that Ray Sherman just won’t be back with Dallas. He had previously interviewed for the head coaching job in Dallas before Jason Garrett was hired officially, so he was a good coach.

From what I gathered, his contract just expired, and either he or Dallas just wants a change. Many think that Jason Garrett just wants to get his guys in there, so Ray Sherman just wasn’t asked back. He definitely wasn’t fired; that’s a given.

He is one of four assistants whose contracts expire after this season. John Garrett, Jason’s brother, is the tight ends coach, and he is expected to return. The other two assistants are Wade Wilson, the quarterbacks coach, and Chris Boniol, the kicking coach, who was a placekicker of the 1995 Cowboys that won Super Bowl XXX.

A lot of changes are still expected in Dallas. This is just the beginning, and I have a feeling that some changes are going to raise eyebrows, and some are going to bring smiles.
