Packers Headed to Super Bowl XLV, Have Yet to Trail by More Than Seven Points This Season

The Green Bay Packers clinched their fifth Super Bowl appearance with a 21-14 victory at Chicago Sunday afternoon. Despite a tumultuous year of injuries, the Pack has yet to trail an opponent by more than seven points at any point during the 2010 campaign. This stat has opened eyes around the league, and in a hostile environment on Sunday the Packers once again refused to even come close to desperation-mode.

Three of the Packers' last four games have ended with a trailing opponent in a good position to break the hearts of Packer Nation with a thrilling last-chance play. All three times, the Packer secondary has sealed victory. Nick Collins did so against the Bears in week 17, squeaking Green Bay into the postseason. Tramon Williams did the honors against Philadelphia and rookie Sam Shields, who has had a phenomenal year, snagged the latest game-clinching pick Sunday at Soldier Field. This Packer team has done a lot of goofy things and provided its fans with some unnecessary nail-bitters, but, ultimately, Dom Capers has shown why his group is arguably the scariest defense in the NFL. They can make game-changing plays at any moment and fortunately, I stress FORTUNATELY, those plays have come at the correct moments of late in order to put the team in the position they're in.
