Orr placed on IR; Reimer re-called
The Maple Leafs placed tough guy Colton Orr on the injured reserve Saturday after he went face first into the ice following a fight with Anaheim's George Parros during the first period of the Leafs' 5-2 victory over the Ducks.
Last night's game against Washington was the first game he had missed as a Maple Leaf. In two seasons with the Buds, Orr has six goals, two assists and 367 penalty minutes in 128 games. He is currently in the second year of a four-year, $4 million contract.
The move gave the Leafs the roster space they required to call up goalie James Reimer from the Toronto Marlies of the AHL. In seven games with the Leafs this season, Reimer is 4-2-0 with a goals against average of 2.27 and a save percentage of .933.
The 22-year-old has also been tearing up the AHL. In 15 games with the Marlies, Reimer has a record of 9-5-1, a GAA of 2.59 and a save percentage of .920. He is coming off of a 3-0 shutout win over the Peoria Rivermen last night.
Other notes: Mike Komisarek has said he was told not to say anything about his current situation. It was reported yesterday by TMZ.com that Komisarek is under investigation for allegedly punching a woman at a Los Angeles night club earlier this month ... The Leafs next play Monday in Carolina. Jean-Sebastien Giguere will make his third consecutive start in that game, while it sounds like Reimer will start Tuesday in Tampa Bay.
