Tony Romo Placed on Injured Reserve

There was a great deal of speculation about Tony Romo returning to play for the Cowboys after breaking his collarbone in week 7. Well, let the speculation end. Now that the Cowboys are guaranteed at losing record, and with the Cardinals and Eagles still left to be played, the Cowboys have decided to officially put Tony Romo on injured reserve and continue with Jon Kitna as their quarterback.

The Cowboys are making a wise decision really because the next two games for Dallas aren't going to get them in the postseason. In fact, all they do is affect draft position for this April's NFL draft. It is a very smart move because in week 17, the Cowboys are going on the road to Philadelphia to face the Eagles. That environment, that rival, in January, in that cold stadium? No way would I put my franchise quarterback, who is just coming back from an injury, out there to be beaten on by the Eagles.

And trust me, the Eagles will do just that. The Eagles right now are vicious, and Dallas went up there in 2008 and was crushed 44-6 with Tony Romo being knocked out of the game, and he collapsed in the shower in the locker room afterwards.

No, Dallas needs to play competitively, but strategically. Get some young guys some playing time so that they can see who wants a job badly enough for next year.
