It's Too Soon To Give Up On The Indianapolis Colts

Last night, the San Diego Chargers dealt Peyton Manning the worst loss of his career.

And they did it with defense.

Right now a lot of Colts fans are ready to jump ship. Who can blame them. Indy's just lost two in a row to (arguably) their two biggest rivals.

But before you jump off the bandwagon, I've gotta tell you that I think it's to soon to give up on the Colts.

In the first place, Peyton's little brother Eli did us a favor- when his New York (football) Giants beat the Jacksonville Jaguars 24-20. So right now Indy is tied with the Jags for first place in the AFC South.

And yes, the Colts have been decimated by injuries. Sure All-Pro tight end, Dallas Clark is out for the season, but Indy's other stars are coming back.

Guys like: Joseph Addai and Austin Collie should be back soon. And Reggie Wayne isn't 100% (right now) but he'll get healthy eventually.

And five losses isn't the end of the world. We're just not used to it.

In the Tony Dungy era, the Colts were the best regular season team in the league, but now the streak of 12 win seasons (seven) is over.

So what!

All those 12 win seasons only added up to one Super Bowl Championship.

Last year Jim Caldwell did something that coach Dungy never did- won a playoff game after the bye.

Hopefully, what Caldwell lacks in regular season game planning, he makes up for in post season success.

That being said, fans in Indy should start rooting for the Jets and the Chiefs.

That way if (when) the Colts make the playoffs- they'll get both the Chargers and the Pats at home for the rematch.

I don't think they beat Peyton twice.
