The Game Must Go On (Even Without Dallas Clark)
Like most fans of the Indianapolis Colts, I got a sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach when I found out that Dallas Clark was out for the season.
But unlike a lot of Colts fans, I don't think it means the Colts are no longer contenders.
Sure, I could give you the spiel of "as long as we've got Peyton Manning we've got a chance".
Which is true. Whenever you have the best player in the league on your team you've got a chance to win- especially when he's your quarterback.
I think Indy can win without Clark for other reasons too.
In the first place, Dallas Clark is just one offensive weapon. Peyton Manning has plenty of other weapons on offense.
Sure, Austin Collie is out for 2-6 weeks with an injury (sorry Tuna, you'll have to find another Colt to milk iun our fantasy league), but he'll be back.
In the meantime, Manning will have to get bye with Reggie Wayne and Pierre Garcon- so I think the passing game will be ok.
Plus there's the possibility that Anthony Gonzalez will come back this season- so there's yet another weapon for Manning to throw to.
Dallas Clark also picks up a lot of blocks (because the offensive line is garbage), but we've got better blocking tight ends on the roster (Brody Eldridge was drafted as a blocking specialist). So someone will definitely pick up his blocking assignments.
I know that Dallas Clark is one of the premiere tight ends in the league right now and it'll probably take more than one guy to replace him.
But losing a tight end (even one as good as Clark) is not the end of the world.
