Sheldon Souray; A Legit Senator Target?
I'm sure every team right now has rumours swirling around about trading him, sign him, do this, do that. The Senators are no different.
One of the biggest rumours I'm hearing is Edmonton defensemen, Sheldon Souray. You know, that huge defensemen that has a howie from the point? This not only makes sense to me, I love the idea of thinking about Souray becoming a Senator.
What would the Oilers want in return, good question, but it really seems like they would take anything right now. Who am I thinking? I'm not a general manager, haha. Another rumour is Bryan Murray is looking to unload on some forwards, and I know that Edmonton struggled to get some pucks in the net last year. Even with Taylor Hall, Jordan Eberle, and Ales Hemesky, you still need secondary scoring. Why not take a young winger to line up with Andrew Cogliano, and Sam Gangner? One second folks...holy wow, Edmonton has quite the line up for next season?! Anyway, could this happen?
I just explained why it would be a good idea for the Oilers, but how about our Senators? We did just lose Anton Volchenkov to free agencie. However we did manage to pick up Sergei Gonchar. The only thing I'm worried about is, are we too offencive on our back end? With Gonchar, Karlsson, and possibly Campoli, the Sens could still use some stay at home help. Yes we do have Cowan, and Carkner for two huge bodies, but Souray would add to a very scary blue line for the Senators.
Let's talk a little bit about Souray, shall we. He had a great career in Montreal, and was good in Edmonton until injuries have kept him out of the line up. Sound familiar? I'm thinking Cheecho? Bringing Cheecho to the Senators was a very risky deal, and it sure didn't pan out. Cheecho has been bought out by the Senators and is heading else where. So is it worth the risk to take a chance on Souray?
