Peach State safety Kadetrix Marcus has Auburn in the mix
Kadetrix Marcus attended Big Cat Weekend this summer and
left impressed, even with an incredibly long list of suitors. The hard hitting
safety out of Stephenson HS in Stone Mountain, Ga. knows how to use his size to
his advantage, and that may be what coaches like the most.
He’s got a great build for the safety position, and knows
how to get the ball quickly with his 4.54 speed. However, Marcus has never
declared Auburn his leader, and has had a tough time trying to decide on one. “Minnesota,
Michigan State, Auburn, South Carolina, Miami, Clemson, and West Virginia are
all neck and neck right now,” said Marcus on narrowing his schools down. “Auburn’s
pretty high, and everything’s going pretty good with them. There’s not too much
I don’t dislike about them,” he continued.
Marcus doesn’t want to wait forever to decide, but he will
wait until he feels the most comfortable. “I really don’t want to wait that
long, but when the time is right, that’s when I’ll do it. I want to find the
best fit for me, somewhere with a good alumni base that supports them, and a
place I’d like to live for four years,” said Marcus.
Big Cat Weekend helped the 6-foot-1, 190 lb. Georgia native
learn more about what Auburn could offer him, and he really liked the concept
of the weekend. “Everything was good. I got to relate with the coaches, have
fun with the recruits and get to know them better. I mean, they could be future
teammates,” he said. There were plenty of things to like, starting with
location on the map. “It’s right by Atlanta, which is cool, and I know they
have good alumni and are definitely an up and coming program that brought in a
good class last year,” added Marcus.
Coach Thigpen will be Marcus’ position coach on the Plains,
and he’s built a good relationship with Marcus, as he seems to do with all Auburn
targets. Marcus plans to make it to Auburn, Ole Miss, Tennessee, USF and
possibly Miami, WVU, and Minnesota this summer. While Marcus travels the
country searching for the right fit for him, Auburn will have to continue to
work to separate themselves from the pack for one of the South’s top safeties.
