Santa Clara 49ers.....could the Raiders be far behind?
Now that....is a scary thought.
For a team that has a habit of wandering around the California coast, Oakland's Raiders made news in the 80's and 90's, moving first to LA, then having fans grow angry as Al Davis contemplated moves to Hollywood Park, back to Oakland, while the players wondered if it was safe to send out the laundry, for fear of it getting mailed elsewhere.
The Raiders finally came back home to Oakland, where they always seemed to belong...until another rumbling occured.
The 49ers, presently in the Bay Area, have grown tired of efforts for a new stadium falling through, or renovations for Candlestick, presently older than the Raiders present stadium, recently won a vote with residents in Santa Clara to start the work of building a stadium, the first step in moving the club out of San Fran.
Could the Raiders be tempted to move along with them?
Probably not, barring a sudden change in Oakland's hierarchy. The Raiders recently have heard from the City of Oakland, looking into the possibilities of another stadium, possibly near the same location presently occupied.
It will be interesting to see how both clubs move forward in the next couple of seasons....hopefully Al has all the Wanderlust out of his system too.
