Playmaker Demetrius Hart likes Auburn for more than just Football
Demetrius Hart is a
highly sought after running back out of Orlando by way of Dr. Phillips High.
Auburn would love to have his services. And when it comes down to it, he may
give Auburn a chance for reasons other than you think.
When people think of Auburn, they think many things, but one
constant they always seem to think of is the history of their running backs.
Running Back U, if you will. Demetrius Hart would fit right into Auburn’s forte
of bringing in top tailbacks, and Coach Chizik and Co. would love to have the
versatile Hart in their backfield.
Hart, who simply goes by “Dee,” was scheduled to come to Big
Cat Weekend last week, but was unable to make it up to Auburn.
“I wasn’t able to come up there this weekend, but hopefully
I can get up there soon. I don’t know if I’m making it this summer, but I will
definitely be up there for an official visit when school starts back,” Hart
said.
Don’t read anything into the chance that Hart won’t make it up this summer. He isn’t planning on any visits during his summer break. “I’ve got the 7 on 7 camp with my team and basically just working out and training for my senior year. I doubt I’m gonna take any visits,” he added. A
uburn is a very appealing choice to Hart for a variety of
reasons, but the one constant that potential recruits love is the Malzahn
offense. “It’s the most unique in the SEC. With that, the family concept that
they preach about the program, and then you have the fans and all that, it’s a
good place,” said Hart.
Hart has plenty of offers, but he has narrowed it down to a
few favorites, with none sticking out more than the other. “Michigan, Auburn,
Florida, Alabama, Florida, and Miami all have caught my eye the most.”
Each one
of those schools he says has an equal chance, and it’s no secret that many
think that Michigan has the inside track for his signature after he visited for
their Spring Game with his mother.
With the rumors and self-imposed sanctions surrounding the
Michigan, Hart said that will not affect his decision at all. Hart’s teammate
and friend Hasean Clinton-Dix, one of the top defensive backs in the country,
has committed to Alabama, but Hart stressed that doesn’t mean he’s going to
Alabama, either. “His commitment won’t affect mine. Not at all.”
What might separate Auburn from the rest? You might think it’d
be the family concept, or the SEC, or the coaching staff. Well, you’d be wrong.
While he loves the staff, and Auburn, he likes their business school even more.
“Honestly, the business school is one of the top in the
country, and it really appeals to me. They will give me a great education. I
also love the fact of how they would use me in their offense, which wouldn’t
just be out of the backfield,” Hart added.
Coach Boulware and Coach Grimes have been after him the
hardest, and they’ve built a good relationship with Hart. “They’re some of the
best guys I’ve talked to. Coach Boulware keeps it real and tells it like it is,
and Coach Grimes lets me know all about the school and the program and all
that. They’re great guys.”
When it comes down to it, Hart will be looking for a school
that combines a top education and the opportunity to play early. “Playing time
will be another huge thing, as well as the area of the school and basically
their reputation,” he said.
Hart has done a great job of narrowing it down thus far, but
he’s in no hurry to make a decision. Auburn is very much in the picture, and
could just be the dark horse no expects Hart to choose. Keep an eye on this
rising running back in the coming months.
