Bliss returns to TRG to race Daytona
Mike Bliss will be returning to TRG Motorsports this weekend to drive the team's No. 71 entry, recently vacated by Bobby Labonte, in Saturday's Coke Zero 400 at Daytona International Speedway.
"I woke up this morning and headed to Daytona for the Nationwide race," Bill said in a statement on Tuesday. "I didn't expect to be running in the Sprint Cup race as well."
Bliss made two starts in the Sprint Cup Series for TRG last season, piloting a car for the team at Charlotte Motor Speedway and Richmond International Raceway. His seventh-place qualifying effort for the team at Charlotte in 2009 is the best the team has ever qualified.
"I am excited to be running with TRG Motorsports again," Bliss said. "We had a good run at Charlotte last year."
Although Bliss has been behind the wheel of a TRG Motorsports entry before, Saturday will mark his first time working with crew chief Dan Stillman.
"I will work with Dan and the guys and see how they want to run the race," Bliss said.
Television coverage for Saturday's Coke Zero 400 is slated for a 7:30 p.m. ET start on TNT.
