Graig Nettles Battles Cancer
Yankees great Graig Nettles was diagnosed with prostate cancer after being prompted to get screened by his brother who had prostate cancer and said it ran in the family. After being diagnosed the day before Thanksgiving, Nettles will have surgery on April 8 at Sloan Kettering Hospital in New York.
Nettles said, "They told me they got it early, and it's curable and treatable . I've just got to think positive."
Nettles referred to former Yankees skipper Joe Torre and how positive he was during his bout with prostate cancer. "He's pretty upbeat about it after what he's gone through. I hope I have the same fortune that he had."
Nettles is in the thoughts and prayers of all of the Yankees family and their many fans.
