The Sweep is on

The Philadelphia Phillies swept the Richmond Braves, oh wait that was their major league team, the Atlanta Braves at Turner Field for the second time within a month. The Braves sunk like Little Larry's batting average below .400.

Sorry Tomahawks, the chop is dead, just the like Braves in the division race. Time to dismantle the team at the trade deadline and start from scratch. Your chances to win this year are gone!

Little Larry after being asked about the Braves chances this year!

Phillies Whoop Braves Again

The Phillies love playing in Atlanta. Little Larry and friends could not beat the Phillies yet again as the Phightin' Phils beat the Braves with ease for the fifth straight time this season at Turner Field. The Phillies have shown that they are the much better team this year and will go for the second straight sweep tomorrow as Cole Hamels takes the hill at 7:10pm.

Great time to be a Phillies fan!!

Also be sure to check out Phightin' Phils Phorum!

Little Larry Out Today!

Little Larry "Chipper" Jones will miss todays game after suffering a slight tear in his right quadricep muscle. For any of you Tomahawk heads that think Little Larry is better than Chase Utley and should win the MVP award, remember that durability is part of it.

Sorry Tomahawks, the sweep is coming!

Even From Last Year, But Not in the Standings!

What more can you say about the game last night! The Phillies came back, tied the game, then won it wasting a brilliant pitching performance by Tim Hudson. The Phillies gave a little pay back for the bitter loss they took last season to the Braves having a 8-2 lead late in the game before Braves came back to beat them. That loss was bitter, it was easier to take when the Phillies won the division, but still tough to swallow.

It feels better now as the Kelly Johnson error erased much of the pain and evened things up! Sorry Braves fans but the Phillies are the better team this season. They are now 4 1/2 games ahead of the Braves and are starting to pull away in the N.L. East!

Phillies Take Over Division, Braves Falling Fast

The Philadelphia Phillies took over first place last night when they battered the Florida Marlins 12-3 at Citizens Bank Park. Meanwhile, the Braves did it again, lost. The 7-19 road record will just not cut it in a division with a team as good as the Phillies.

The Phillies are a well balanced Phillies team that leads the National League in bullpen ERA, most innings pitched by their starting pitching, a solid bench, and the best lineup in all of baseball that has scored 60 runs in the last 5 games.

Sorry Tomahawks, the Phillies are the team to beat and your team does not have what it takes to beat them! Just look at the standings.

East W L Pct GB
Philadelphia Phillies 32 24 .571 --
Florida Marlins 30 23 .566 0.5
Atlanta Braves 29 26 .527 2.5
New York Mets 26 27 .491 4.5
Washington Nationals 24 32 .429 8.0

Like a Homeless Man on the Roadside

The Philadelphia Phillies passed the Atlanta Braves like a homeless man on the roadside last night to take over second place. The Fightin's whipped the Colorado Rockies for the second straight night and are now a game ahead of the Braves and climbing towards the Marlins.

What a great win for the Brewers last night as Bobby Cox left Tim Hudson in too long as they tied the score off him in the bottom of the eighth. They they won the game in the bottom of the ninth inning leaving Cox and friends stunned as to how they could lose the game.

Gotta love it! See ya Braves. Try again next year!

Bobby Cox to Return in 2009

Smoltz_cox Bobby Cox said he is still having fun with the games and has agreed to a one year contract extension agreeing to manage the Braves through 2009. There had been speculation that the future hall of fame manager may contemplate retirement when his contract ended at the end of the 2008 season.

This is good news for Braves fans as the greatest manager in their history will try to get them back to their winning ways. Hopefully Bobby can lead them to another NL East title this season and start another streak. If he does, it is my bet he will not retire after 2009!
